INHF celebrates 100,000th acre milestone

Don Poggensee
INHF's 100,000th acre is located in Sioux City's Stone State Park, pictured above.
The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation reached a major milestone in March — we’ve protected 100,000 acres of Iowa.

And we have you to thank.

Please take a moment to look through our slideshow, which captures just a few images of the land, water and wildlife we have helped to protect.

The 100,000th acre is located in Stone State Park in Sioux City. Every acre has a story, so read the story behind this project and learn about two women who made it possible. For information on INHF's previous additions to this park, browse through our Stone State Park news archive.

For the bigger picture, read our statewide story, which examines what the 100,000th acre means for conservation in Iowa. And perhaps more importantly, where we need to go next.

To learn more about INHF projects, see our county-by-county list or INHF land ownership chart.

For more information, e-mail Cathy Engstrom, Director of Communications, or call (515) 288-1846.
