A "Clear" success

This article first appeared in INHF's Summer 2006 magazine.

The public now has 26 more acres and an additional 1,000 feet of shoreline to enjoy at Clear Lake!

The Ventura Cove Enhancement Project features a mix of quiet shoreline, woodland and wetlands and a busier area near the popular fishing jetty off the Ventura Grade. Thanks to the efforts of private landowners (who made a bargain sale), the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and 281 private donors, its fundraising is now complete!

Public amenities near the fishing jetty—including restrooms, a parking lot and an education kiosk—will likely be completed by 2007. Future plans also include extension of the round-the-lake trail through the woodland and along the grade.

For more information, e-mail Cathy Engstrom, Director of Communications, or call (515) 288-1846.
