Schuetzen Park
celebrates addition

After 10 months of successful fundraising, the Schuetzenpark Gilde purchased an additional 7.5 acres of the original Schuetzen Park woodlands. For the past decade, the Gilde has worked to save remnants of Davenport's famous "shooting park" (which operated from 1870 to 1923), renovate its historic streetcar pavilion and rehabilitate trails.

On Oct. 9, Schuetzen Park was rededicated in a special ceremony that included traditional German food and drink and a live band from Germany.

INHF provided technical assistance in helping the Gilde acquire this latest addition.

Released 10/24/03
