Completed Projects

To see what INHF projects have been completed near you, use the clickable map below to find the county(s) that interest you. Each county is followed by a list of some INHF projects located there, general location, and contact numbers. Visit county websites for more information.

The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation has completed land protection projects in 93 of Iowa's 99 counties. These projects include wetlands, prairies, woodlands, trails and greenways. INHF has played a significant role in acquiring, purchasing, restoring or providing legal or financial assistance in each project listed. Partnerships with county conservation boards, federal and state agencies, non-profit organizations and private individuals and businesses make this important work possible.

Not all of the Foundation's projects are listed on this website because some owners of protected private land have requested to remain anonymous. Others are listed here but are marked "not open to the public" or "restricted access." This is because the land is private property or a fragile ecosystem that will be damaged by curious, well-meaning humans. Please respect the owner's request and the natural integrity of the area and don't trespass.
