INHF welcomes new staff members

Welcome back, Duane!  Duane Sand is our new Public Policy Director. He served INHF and other conservation groups as a consultant for the last decade.  Duane will coordinate our efforts on state appropriations, federal farm policy and clean water. He also chairs the State Soil Conservation Committee of the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship

 Duane worked for INHF from 1981-1993 and for the Soil Conservation Service for seven years prior to that.

Welcome back, Jessica!  Jessica Nanke is our new Land Projects and Stewardship Associate. Jessica served as crew leader for our 2005 Eastern Iowa land stewardship crew and as our 2006 program and grant-writing intern. She now assists program staff with land projects, events and grants. She also provides occasional support with land stewarship.

Jessica graduated from Iowa State University in 2007 with majors in English and Environmental Studies.

Welcome, Tylar! Tylar Samuels, formerly with Lee County Parks & Recreation Department in Florida, joined our staff on April 1.  She will assist our land stewardship staff with land management activities on INHF-owned land and help lead our summer land stewardship interns. Typical duties include helping develop management plans, conduct prescribed fire, remove invasive species and monitor conservation easements.

Originally from Des Moines, Tylar graduated from the University of Iowa in 2000 with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Native American Studies.
