INHF wins policy grant

This article first appeared in INHF's Spring 2008 magazine.

Duane Sand, INHF's Public Policy Director
Duane Sand, INHF’s Public Policy Director, was recently awarded a two-year grant to explore public policy options that reward linking the growing bio-economy to environmental stewardship.

The two-year grant, awarded by the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University, is titled State Policy Alternatives for Biofuels Industry Support of Sustainable Production of Biofuels Feedstocks.

The project involves researching traditional and new funding options to encourage sustainable agricultural practices and systems. Duane will conduct personal interviews with influential leaders on the pros and cons of policy options ranging from redirecting existing subsidies to rewarding farmers who use environmental management systems.

For more information, e-mail Cathy Engstrom, Director of Communications, or call (515) 288-1846.
