Two new wetlands

This article first appeared in INHF's Summer 2007 magazine.

Sac County wetlands

INHF recently helped the Iowa DNR acquire a 145-acre addition to Kiowa Marsh. When restored, it will provide additional wetlands and needed upland nesting cover. We also helped them acquire a new 356-acre public wetland area adjacent to Sac City.

Lee County wetlands

INHF recently helped the Lee County Conservation Board acquire two parcels, totaling 49 acres, along the Mississippi River. The smaller parcel is partially submerged, from three inches to three feet, providing outstanding habitat for ducks and other waterfowl.
