INHF selects new
interns for summer 2004
Since its inception in 1986, the Iowa Natural
Heritage Foundation (INHF) internship program has had 128 interns,
and this summer, seven new students will be added to that list.
These Iowa college students have been selected to intern in various
positions, including communications and land restoration in order
to learn more about their fields of interest while helping to
preserve Iowa's natural environment.
"These summer interns increase INHF's
staff by 50%, so that means a huge increase in what we can accomplish
for Iowa's natural resources," said Cathy Engstrom, INHF
communications director. "We also appreciate all their energy
and enthusiasm."
Ryan Marquardt, another intern, was hired
in the spring of 2004 and will continue his work through the year.
Marquardt's responsibilities include grant writing, researching
and project support.
The INHF Buckmaster Internship Program receives
its funding from the R.J. McElroy Trust of Waterloo and is named
in honor of Robert J. Buckmaster, who served as the Trust's chair
from 1979-82, and was also the first chair of the Foundation's
board. More funding comes from the Svare family trust fund in
Iowa City.
