Great Race Against Shrubs and Shade (G.R.A.S.S.)
Friday, May 31, 2024, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Participate in one of the largest land restoration days in the state! With partner organizations and volunteers, we'll remove cedars to help keep the Loess Hills hillside prairies healthy and thriving.
Please note: This event is not for the faint of heart. The terrain is steep and uneven, and the work is intense.
No RSVP necessary - just show up!
Please bring:
- Water bottle
- Sturdy boots or shoes, long pants and clothes you don't mind getting dirty or torn by thorns
- Helmet, gloves, loppers, safety glasses, ear plugs and sunscreen - if you have them (we will have a few extras)
Details:
- No experience necessary
- This is one of our more intense work days. Terrain can be steep and uneven. Not recommended for children under 10
- You will be asked to sign a liability waiver
- This site may have ticks, poison ivy, mosquitoes, plants with thorns or other natural hazards
