RSVP

INHF and our partners at Iowa Prairie Network will lead a hike at Wildin Heritage Prairie. Participants will see small prairie potholes, remnant sedge meadow prairie and potentially grassland birds and other wildlife.

INHF President Joe McGovern will lead the hike, and Dr. Tom Rosburg will provide valuable insight on the prairie along the way. Dr. Rosburg has conducted two floristic inventories of this prairie, the first in 2003 and more recently in 2023. He will share observations from his time spent on the prairie over a twenty year span. Participants will also learn about INHF and IPN, as well as the protection, history and current stewardship of Wildin.

ABOUT WILDIN HERITAGE PRAIRIE

Wildin Heritage Prairie includes two neighboring sites totaling 185 acres. The southern site features a cluster of small prairie potholes, high-quality remnant sedge meadow prairie and reconstructed prairie. Much of the land has never been drained or plowed, though it does have a history of grazing. It remains a refuge to many unique plant and animal species. Wildin Heritage Prairie is stewarded by Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.

Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation is committed to an equitable opportunity for individuals to gather, in which we strive toward an environment that is both safe and welcoming for all. INHF continues to work toward creating a more inclusive environment that encourages, supports and affirms the diverse backgrounds of our event attendees. Attendees whose words, actions or behaviors make other attendees feel unsafe or unwelcome at INHF events will be asked to leave.
