Seth Watkins, a farmer in Clarinda, Iowa, will be joined by Jeremy Jackson, a Marine Scientist from San Diego, California to discuss the effects of Iowa's agriculture beyond the state border. The session will also include a farmers' look at the current landscape of sustainable agriculture in the state.

Dr. Jeremy Jackson is emeritus scientist at the Smithsonian Institute, professor of oceanography at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography where he led the Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation, and conservation scientist at the American Museum of Natural History. He studies threats and solutions to human impacts on the environment and the ecology and evolution of tropical seas. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has won numerous international prizes and awards.
Seth Watkins is the fourth generation of his family to care for Pinhook Farm, which was established near Clarinda in 1846 by his great grandfather James Shambaugh. Today, Pinhook Farm manages a beef cow calf operation, crop production and an outfitting business. Seth attributes the growth and success of the operation to making stewardship his number one priority.
