Join us for and the Friends of the Ames High Prairie for a prairie seed harvest at the Richard W. Pohl Memorial Preserve. No prior experience is necessary; we’ll show you what to collect. This peaceful and educational activity is a favorite among volunteers and a great way to get to know the prairie.
Seed harvesting can be done using your hands or clippers to collect seeds into buckets and bags.

ATTIRE & EQUIPMENT
- Sturdy shoes or hiking boots, long pants and layers
- Insect repellant and water bottle
- A hiking stick, binoculars, field guide and/or camera, if you like
